OurPaisa Market connects people. We do not handle payments or deliveries and we do not check who anyone is, so a little care protects you. These tips are practical advice, not a guarantee that a deal will be safe.
Before you agree to anything
- Read the listing closely. Check the photos, the price and the place. A price far below the market rate is a warning sign.
- Ask questions in chat and ask for extra photos if something is unclear. Be wary of anyone who rushes you or refuses to answer.
- Seller details are declarations. Warranty, bill, box and the phone self-check are given by the seller. OurPaisa does not verify or certify them. The self-check is a quick test the seller ran in their own browser, not an inspection.
- Share the minimum. You do not need to give your home address, ID numbers or bank details to chat or to arrange a meeting.
Meeting and paying
- Meet in a busy public place, in daylight if possible, and tell someone where you are going. Bring a friend if you can.
- Inspect before you pay. Switch the item on, test it, check serial numbers, the bill, the warranty card and the box in person.
- Do not pay in advance, not even a small token, to someone you have not met. Be careful with requests to pay to a "courier", "army officer", "agent" or "security deposit".
- Pay only when satisfied, and keep a record of the payment and the bill or receipt.
- Vehicles and property. Check the papers (registration certificate, insurance, ownership and tax documents) and confirm they match before any payment.
- Used phones and laptops. Check that the device is not locked to someone else's account, that the IMEI or serial number matches the box and bill, and that it is not reported lost.
Common scams to watch for
- "Pay a little first to hold it." Advance payment, fake booking fees and fake delivery charges.
- Requests to scan a QR code or approve a collect request "to receive money". Receiving money never needs you to enter a PIN or approve a payment.
- Asking for your OTP. No genuine buyer, seller or worker needs your OTP, PIN, CVV, password or a screen-sharing app.
- Links to other sites or apps that ask you to log in or pay. Keep the conversation and payment simple and in person.
- Fake proof of payment. A screenshot is not money. Check your own account.
Keeping your account safe
- Never share your password or OTP with anyone, including people who say they are from OurPaisa. We will never ask for them.
- Use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and log out on shared devices.
- Be careful with links and files sent in chat.
- Photos can show more than you think. Keep addresses, documents and personal numbers out of photos and descriptions.
What OurPaisa does
- Shows a Report button on listings, Buy Requests and jobs. Moderators review reports.
- Can remove listings and block accounts that break the rules.
- Limits how many posts, reports and messages an account can send in a day, to reduce spam.
What OurPaisa does not do
- It does not verify users, items, documents, warranties or the phone self-check.
- It does not hold money, protect payments, arrange delivery or settle disputes between people.
- It cannot promise that every harmful listing is found, or found quickly.
If you think a crime has taken place, contact the police. You can also report the listing to us. For online financial fraud in India, the national cyber crime reporting portal and helpline are run by the government; please check the official details yourself.
